At Challock Pre-School, we are proud to follow the Curiosity Approach – creating a calm, inspiring environment where children are free to explore, follow their own interests, and develop independence through child-led learning. We use "In the Moment" teaching to support children as they learn naturally through play, allowing their curiosity to lead the way.
Our setting has been thoughtfully designed to feel like a home from home. Inspired by owner Rachelle’s background in childminding, we understand the importance of a warm and homely atmosphere in helping children feel safe, secure and ready to learn. The rooms are calm and inviting, with soft lighting, real-life and natural resources, plants, and cosy spaces that encourage children to relax and feel a strong sense of belonging.
We believe that children thrive in peaceful environments that are not overly busy or overwhelming. By avoiding bold colours and overstimulating spaces, we give children the space and freedom to focus, explore and grow at their own pace.
Every week, the children enjoy meaningful activities such as baking, where they build confidence, teamwork and early maths skills. They also take part in regular Forest School sessions, helping them connect with nature and develop problem-solving and physical skills in the outdoors. We make the most of our beautiful local area by going on local walks and outings, using the community and natural environment around us to inspire learning and build real-life experiences.
